[oh, hey hen. also this picture is mostly irrelevant, i mean you can sort of see my skin?]
you guys. i am so obsessed with using coconut oil on my face. i should say that i've never had a huge issue with acne. overall i have pretty normal skin with occasional redness/dryness. i have been using coconut oil for about two months to wash my face at night and in the morning, and also as a makeup remover (aka saving tons of moolah by not buying neutrogena wipes!) the biggest difference, i think, is that in the two-ish months i have been using the coconut oil, i haven't "forgotten" (read:skipped) to wash my face even one time. i think it's a combo of the awesome smell of the coconut oil and wanting to see how well it works, so forcing myself to be consistent. also, it's supposed to be anti-aging/anti-wrinkle, so that's a plus. there was a graphic going around on pinterest about the 48 uses for coconut oil, i mean it's endless. i also tried it on my hair as a hair mask, and i definitely noticed a difference. some people use it to cook, in place of olive oil, i haven't tried that one yet.
basically my routine is rub the coconut oil all over my face, then on my eyes (no burning, it's the best!) and then just rinse with warm water. at night i use neutrogena moisturizer after i wash, but in the morning i just use the coconut oil in the shower.
it's also helping with my psoriasis. so basically if you even mention it to me, i will sing it's praises from the rooftops. and maybe even if you don't mention it to me. i feel like a coconut oil pusher, but seriously it's the best thing. you want to make sure you buy the unrefined organic kind, but beyond that any brand will do! it just feels like i'm doing something awesome for my skin and i love that.

Yay another Coconut enthusiast! I like to say that my time in Hawaii has made my love for coconuts what it is today. I am right with you about washing my face with coconut oil. I have been doing it for the last month and I do not think I could go back to face wash. I blogged about it too. I use a little bit of baking soda in my coconut oil at night and just coconut oil in the morning. I love like you said how its great to remove makeup. The only trick I do besides that is after using warm water to rinse I use really cold water to splash on my face as much as I can stand. I cannot believe how much this has minimized my pores. I'm really stoked about this. Plus i love smelling like a coconut oil all day.

yea! i'm so glad you wrote this! i've been wanting to try this for FOREVER! but leave it to korea to not sell it anywhere around! good things mom and pops are coming to visit woot!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing this all over Pintrest. I just may have to try it. I use coconut oil instead of lotion all over my body. Now I might just have to use it on my face too!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I never realized I could use it to remove makeup! I use it during the winter with dry skin. It works wonders with some cracked dry hands and doesn't burn the cracks like lotions. I have also used it in cooking. But now it sounds like time to try it for my face! I haven't been using anything on my face in a while. I just change my pillow case every night so I do sleep on whatever oils the case absorbed the night before from my face. And I drink a lot of water. And my face has stayed clear! But then I got a job at a really greasy diner. And I have started to get some zits again. Time to try this out! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI cook with coconut oil because it's so good for you and I use extra virgin olive oil as eye makeup remover :) Haha

ReplyDelete2. I just started using coconut oil and it's only been for cooking...sauteing veggies in it...so good!
3. I have been wanting to try it on my hair and now I definitely need to try it on my face.
I've just recently gotten into the whole coconut oil thing (my sister talked me into it). I haven't yet used it topically, but it sure is yummy in food!
ReplyDeleteI just started using coconut oil! i made a scurb and have been enjoying that. I used it to fry eggs, to make banana bread, to smooth on dry patches on my face...i mean, who knew right?!
ReplyDeletei've been using coconut oil for the past few weeks as well! i use it as a face wash at night & then i put my moisturizer on with a few drops of jojoba oil. my face has been looking and feeling so much better! i haven't used it as a hair mask yet.
ReplyDeleteit's seriously the best! who knew?!
DeleteAh! I LOVE coconut oil! I mix it a bit of baby oil and cocoa butter (for stretch marks) and it is like a skin conditioner. Glad to know others are having success with it as well!
