Memorial Day Weekend.

Hope you had a great memorial day!  We spent our weekend attending cookouts, eating corn on the cob, weeding our garden, golfing (Tim), and buying stuff for our soon-to-be puppy (me).    Here are a few pics, unfortunately I was too lazy to bust out my real camera, so instagram will have to do.  And a big thank you to all the soldiers past & present for everything they do for our country.

[a flag appeared on our lawn on saturday morning, along with every other house in the neighborhood.  Our HOA?  Or just a good samaritan toting flags? Either way we appreciated the patriotism]

[Scored some new sweet sunglasses at Rue 21 (which is like a Charlotte Russe, i was not that impressed). Except for these lavendar shades with mint arms, for $6!]

[I may have gone a little overboad at PetSmart. But hey, puppies need a lot of stuff, right? Right.]

[I also baked some pretty delicious cookies, they turned out darn good if I do say so myself (and I do).]

Hope you had a fun weekend!  Now I"m off to relax, and find out what this new mini-series Hatfields & McCoys is all about.

Tank Top-itis

I'm kind of obsessed with wearing stretchy tanks (camis?) underneath EVERYTHING.  I think I have a real problem.  Am I alone here?  My tank top of choice is those seamless tanks (no itchy tag) from the Limited, I have an embarassing amount of them in every possible color.  Ironically I hate wearing a tank top normally as a shirt - I much prefer sleeves.  But underneath tshirts (or anything really)? These are my go-to.  I think it's a sickness, I feel naked without a cami underneath.  I may need tank top rehab.  They're really selling them hard in this picture.  No need, Limited.  I'm already on the hook.

It's a Boy!

We're finally getting a puppy!  I've only been asking for one since we first started dating!  And let's be honest, I was asking for one even before then from anyone who would listen.  We just got word back from a breeder who we'd contacted about her litter of bloodhound puppies, and got our pick of 5 different puppies.

So, here he is...in all his glory, introducing Henry!

His name right now with the litter, to differentiate him from his siblings, is "Aaron". Tim suggested he could be Henry Aaron, aka Hank Aaron ;)    He'll be ready to come home the second week in July.  We couldn't be more excited!

(note: we fully support the ASPCA, and commend anyone who chooses to rescue/adopt a dog. However it just wasn't an option for us with our small cat who is already slightly afraid of dogs.)

You're So Vain..

About 50% of my instgram pics are of myself. in the mirror.  Yup.  Just being honest.

I've always believe Cher from Clueless was right, when she said you can't trust mirrors and that you should take pictures of an outfit to see how it really looks.  So true.  Are you buying this?  I mean 75% of the time I'm wearing a v-neck t-shirt, but still.   Look, I've even got my niece in on it.

My second favorite thing is apparently taking pictures of my shoes.  Normal.

are you on instagram?  follow me here.

Boom

I think there is something in the water, because we seem to have a baby boom on our hands here. With our friends, not us - we've only been married a month and a half now, give us a break ;)  But, I know five people that are pregnant and all due in September.  I know that three of the five are having boys.  The other two might be as well - I just don't know yet.  Interesting.  It made me think of an article I read on Glamour's site (which I can't find now, darn).  But it was about a Chinese birth chart (pictured below) and predicting gender using the mother's age and the month of conception.  So far everyone I've done it for has been right.

SO WEIRD.
It's crazy that our close friends are starting to have kids - makes me feel all grown-up & stuff.  Eeek!  I guess this is what happens after such a flurry of weddings in the last few years.

"Reality" Junkie..

Confession: my name is Kate, and I'm a huge reality junkie.  16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom, Bethenny, Real World (yes, I still watch that show), the Kardashians...you name it.

It's definitely been a while since I've watched the Bachelorette, but I'm back on board to find that it's season 8...EIGHT.  Insane.  Also insane? These guys...is it wrong to call them contestants?  It feels like they are on a game show.  I'm not sure who is worse, the guy with the glass slipper or the guy with the boom box.  Or the CRAZY guy with the ostrich egg. WHAT.  These people cannot be real.

Can't wait to watch the rest of this season.  Are you watching too?  Please tell me I'm not the only one who get sucked into 'reality' tv.  I mean, come on...Laguna Beach & the Hills? Classics, right?

Genius Idea.

Whoever came up with the idea of paint samples is a genius!  I don't have to buy a whole gallon, and then hate how it looks on the wall? BEST.   Can't wait to try these Benjamin Moore colors out!

Weekend Fun...

Weekends go by WAY too fast around here lately.

There is so much stuff to do around the house, and we have barely started on the outside.  Dandelions galore.  Sorry neighbors (though it needs to be said that we are not the only offenders on our street).  Tim mows the lawn, but we have a LOT of work to do to get it looking decent.  Friday night we enjoyed a little happy hour on the deck, and I played around with my NEW lens.  I can't be bothered to read directions, so all pictures were trial and error.
On Saturday our friends, Vicky & Dave, came to visit and check out our new place.  They brought cupcakes and ladder golf, so they're welcome back any time.
These.cupcakes.were.AMAZING.
Plus it was one of my favorite days: DERBY DAY!  I used to ride horses, yet I still pick the winning horses based on looks & funny names.  I did not win (the entire pot was $4), but I wore a big hat and shouted at the tv. Next year there will be mint juleps, mark my words.

Today Melissa and I went to "Oh Wow Cow" for the best ice cream ever.  I had a scoop of cinnamon bourbon + a scoop of mint choco chip, Melissa had a scoop of blueberry lemon + a scoop cookies & cream.  They had other awesome flavors like lemon ginger, mango habanero, choco covered pretzels, blood orange, etc.  We will definitely be going back.

Oh, and they had Fizzy Lizzy soda which I love.
Oh, and then when we went to Target we saw they are putting a Rue 21 in that shopping center.  We think (or hope) it's like Forever 21, sooo hopefully we're not wrong!  F21 is my fave. I'm still in my twenties so it's not wrong to love that store, right? RIGHT.

How was your weekend?
